I went to college back in the stone age. there wasn't a McDs/BK on every other corner. no Domino's/PH/PappaJs. on edge of Stroudsburg there were 2 places we'd frequent... and hit is really their names. one was Dairy KING and the other was Burger QUEEN.
had several local pizza places. Chick's made great pizza and GREAT burger... my preference was a totally messy pizza-burger.
I remember Dad taking us to a place called Marra's in springfield, PA. their pizza guys worked behind glass... a bit of extra entertainment throwing dough for an audience.
there was a place (also in Delco) called Charlie's burgers. kind of a cross between a food truck and a food cart. always a line of customers waiting. burgers made to order.
hoagies... without hesitation, the BEST... from Decostanza's on 3rd Street in Chester, PA!
what are your memories of food before mediocre food CHAINS?

Had a few favorite mom & pop Chinese places that I ate at a lot. Gim Lings, Pearl City, Mayflower. They were so good!
A local Diner called Rosy's was real good for breakfast.
There was another Diner close to our house that was pretty good too but I can't remember the name of it?
Then there were our local buffets too, Bonanza steak house, and the Sveden House. 😉
