i'm pretty much right in the middle of NJ. not much more than an hour from the ocean. bordering sod farms and pine barrens. not much more than a half hour away from The Liberty Bell.
i see lots of squirrels... they drive my poor cat nuts. recently started seeing deer wandering on the hills of a solar "farm"... closed land fill.
have seen foxes and think i've heard coyotes? have seen red-tail hawks grab squirrels right off the ground. was a BIG nest... some kind of eagle.
what kind of wildlife is typical for your area?

We live in Minnesota, a small town in the middle of farm land. We live on a wooded 2 acres with a lake. I've seen bald eagles (almost daily), deer, raccoons, possums, fox, bear, bobcats and coyotes.

Even though I live in a city, I am surrounded by green space. Visitors of the 4 legged kind are mostly rabbits, squirrels and if I am lucky a herd of deer like last winter.

I live in a large metropolitan area but there are two small city lakes about 8 blocks away in different directions and a river not too far from us.
We see eagles, hawks, falcons, mallards, Canadian geese, black colored wild turkeys walking through the apartment courtyard.
We have seen mallards, early in the morning, in the apartment outdoor swimming pool.
We have a lot of wild rabbits in the area. More than once I have put out lettuce and water for a baby bunny that seemed to get lost from his group. But sometimes I would see a hawk on our patio, not long afterward, and then did not see the baby bunny again.
Have seen a lot of deer in certain spots along the freeways on the way to work. Some years they have become a serious problem for people driving.
A lot of squirrels here. Most are gray. But we have white squirrels in our area, too.

I live within the city limits. When I first moved where I live, there used to be frogs, crickets, lots of birds. There have been housing developments nearby that have chased a lot of animals, if they weren't exterminated.
They trimmed the trees last year and destroyed a lot of bird nests. There are just a few birds now.
Last summer, I heard ONE cricket. It was very close by.

a nearby town has a BAN on feeding wild turkeys! seems there is/was a gang of them living in patch of wood near a middle school track. people liked to use the track for exercise and some started feeding the wild turkeys that would be brave enough to venture out of the woods. eventually they got braver and braver and started DEMANDING food from walkers/joggers! YIKES!

YIKES! There are wooded areas and ponds near my place of employment. One year, there was a repaving of the parking lot. Since the lot was being worked on, we had to park at the very end of the lot near the trees, tall wild grasses and weeds. One morning, I arrived at work early in the morning. It was still dark outside. I got out of my car and suddenly heard an angry, gobbling turkey. I thought maybe his family was back there and I parked too close to his territory. But I quickly headed across the parking lot to get inside. Didn't want to be a woman on the news attacked by wild turkey in parking lot.

opened door to let dog out one morning. as she ran out, a CHIPMUNK ran in. "killer" dog ran right back in and chased the chippy all around the kitchen/diningroom. a rather tame version of the squirrel scene from National Lampoon Xmas. a few chairs knocked over but nothing smashed. then the 2 ran right back out the open door.
