I like the whole scene, the world they were. In 1968.
This video is a movie scene, but the band is just these guys jamming, how they actually were. And the people are all acting how people did. And those aren't costumes. Those were the cool threads people wore,
when life was a celebration and room was still made for magical mindedness and circumstance.
Groovy baby. Right on. Solid.
Besides, look at that drummer's hat. You can't tell me you dont want that hat! Oh, you WANT that hat!
Okay, it's me that wants the hat!! *YOINK*

Oh, ere's a groovy band! ("They're cookin!")
See what I mean? These people had a strong sense of what's cool. Very cool.
Ya know I dont usually go this far back. The music I like is mid-70's. But I'm always looking at new youtube posts of old music still being made available.
The more I make the history of it all part of my awareness, the more I love every beautiful thing that happened along the way.
The decades..the genres & venues of each. (From radio in the 50's, to outdoor concerts (60's), then taped TV shows (70's), and finally MTV (80's), and the death of radio (90's).)
The birth, life and demise of genres,
the history of guitar itself,
the start of distortion and effects,
the life of rock n roll,
to know guitars and amps, enough to listen to any rig and get it.
and please
NO YOKO!

Our parents condemned us. But we called for change when they would not.
And it was about FAR MORE than just Harry Reasoner's unkind imaginings about not wanting to grow up. F*ck. We tried to change the world we did! And our parents generation shot us for it, at Kent State, and bombed our school with poisonous gas, at Berkley.
And they had jerks like MIke Douglass scoff at us, saying we'd never grow up because much as Harry faults us for not having done so by the strike of 18, hello, they didnt want us to be adults ever. Thats the dirty truth of it.
Oh! Here's their propaganda film about the terrible children now! Let's all watch and hate our own children too. What fun!
What I hate in this film is the way they duped a few of the young to go Jane Fonda on their own selves.
And I mean,..adults putting out defamatory propaganda, condemning their own kids?
*Pthhhhrrr'pt*
No I dont want any melon balls and Tchaikovsky, maitre.
No. Don't put Lawrence Welk on. Oh, please god no!!
No, not Liberace! Oh noes!
It'll be polka music next. Then the Hammond organ from Hell. You'll see! *shudder*

CONFESSION:I'm not actually a 60's hippy, I'm a 70's boomer. In the 60's I was but a wee innocent bystander, being told told to be scared of hippies, by the adults who were frightened of them,
by their long hair, and calling themselves freaks.
The TV said hippies were scary,
my parents said it. So at 8 years old I had nightmares about a Chevy full of hippies terrorizing me.
But at least the adults were at the helm.
