It called beer can chicken. When we make it the chicken is so tender it practically falls off the bone. You will need a gas grill, (or charcoal) beer can holder and a can of beer. We put spices in the can of beer. Pour a little beer out or drink just a little. That's so it doesn't boil over. This is all you need.
Then enjoy!

You spice the chicken with what you like and leave the beer alone. Usually you want a ale or beer that is not 'light'. You use about half a can not a full can.

I do like that good can taste, but I am not sure I want beer in my food. I like to have beer afterwards or before

We put poultry seasoning, celery salt, onions slivers, etc, in the beer can. Or add whatever you like. But we sometime season the chicken also. Here is a tip for those who do not have beer in your house. You can also use Pepsi or coke.
We have done this. Get two Cornish hens and we each have our own chicken.

Yeah, the beer is supposed to keep it nice and tender and from drying out.

Yeah, the beer is supposed to keep it nice and tender and from drying out. Guessing Pepsi or Coke would do the same thing. But I always have beer here so that's what I use. After all it is called Beer Can Chicken. LOL
